Organizational & AI transformation
Transformation that sticks. AI that adds value.
Annum partners with insurance companies to reduce friction, increase efficiency, and adopt and integrate AI across finance, actuarial and risk. We pair decades of industry leadership with an AI-native engineering team.
Data quality problems, duplicative fixes, and work that is expensive to maintain and hard to reconcile.
20–30% estimated cost reduction for high-volume processes redesigned with AI.*
What we believe
Five principles behind every engagement
These come from leading large transformations inside life and annuity companies, and from what we see working with insurers on AI today.
Design the process first, with AI in mind
Don't add another band-aid. Rethink the underlying process and what AI makes possible, then automate it.
- Standardize, streamline, automate, then AI-native
- Fix data quality at the source, not downstream
- Prioritize repeatable processes
Do it with the team, not to it
Change only lasts when the people doing the work are bought in. Ask and listen, then build for them.
- Engagement is a lever, not an afterthought
- Individual contributors become managers of AI
- Safe is constant improvement, not standing still
Build once, use everywhere
Build models, processes and tools once: across functions, products, legacy companies, and even across the industry.
- One doer, one reviewer; no inverted pyramids
- Do it once in the reporting cycle; optimize outside it
- Mergers are the best moment to redefine the process
Invest to save, without breaking the team
Cutting cost means investing in better processes first. Ask a team already at 110% to find that capacity and you get burnout and turnover.
- We bring outside capacity to run and rebuild in parallel
- Flexible commercial models, including licensing
- Savings compound year over year
Prove it fast, then scale
Start with a smaller number of things done well. Prototype in weeks, with go/no-go gates, before scaling to the next process.
- Aspirational but realistic
- Measured against your current approach
- Documented and reproducible for handoff
Speed to market as a managed service
Need to move before you can staff up? We can run a new capability, entity or transaction for you, then transfer it back when you're ready.
- Inforce operations and regulatory reporting
- Aligned with your long-term roadmap
Where AI helps, and where it hurts
AI is a step-function in productivity, if it's used well
Today's AI is a major leap from the pre-2022 era. Human-guided and reviewed, it significantly raises productivity, and it makes domain expertise more valuable, not less.
Adds value
- Better search, with reviewEmpower everyone to use it, even just to find things faster.
- AI-native institutional knowledgeStore what the organization knows so people and AI can build on it.
- AI for repeatable, junior-level workFree experts to spend their time on judgment.
- Modular, sustainable code on a scalable architectureBuilt to be maintained, refactored and controlled.
Destroys value
- Quick automation without process designLocks in yesterday's band-aids.
- A thousand apps of spaghetti codeNo refactoring, no control, no owner.
- No institutional knowledgeEvery answer starts from scratch.
- Handing decisions to AIJudgment stays with people, supported by AI.
“Focus on developing judgment that AI cannot reliably provide, taste to recognize exceptional work when average work becomes cheap, and turning expertise into repeatable AI systems.” Igor Trunov, Forbes Business Council (paraphrased)
How we partner
Ways to work together
We adapt to what's already done and what would help most. Start small, or bring us in across the whole roadmap.
-
01
Leadership & roadmaps
Leadership interviews, facilitated offsites, keynotes, and a transformation and AI adoption roadmap that your leadership team owns.
Includes support gaining approval and rolling the roadmap out to the broader team.
-
02
Transformation execution
Supplemental resources and senior expertise for mergers, accounting changes such as PGAAP and LDTI, model consolidation and process redesign.
Executive coaching, deep dives on the hardest processes, and AI champion working groups.
-
03
AI proofs of concept
A focused build on your data and processes, such as predictive models for claims or pricing, measured against your current approach on hold-out data.
Typically a three-week setup and a six-week core build.
-
04
Managed services
We run a new market entry, entity or transaction for you, including finance, actuarial and risk reporting, plus surge pricing teams when volumes spike.
Knowledge and process transfer to in-house teams when you're ready.
-
05
Technology & licensing
We tailor our technology to your processes, and flexible licensing options are available when you'd like to bring capabilities in-house or build on them.
A typical engagement
From interviews to production in weeks
Each stage ends with a go/no-go decision, so you only continue when it's working.
Listen & assess
Leadership and expert interviews, access to data and documentation, choose the focus processes.
go / no-goDesign & prototype
Redesign the process first, then build a working prototype and gather team feedback.
go / no-goProduction
Initial production process, finalized with your team and documented for ownership.
go / no-goSupport & expand
Production support, then expand to the next process with what you've learned.

Technology
A modern actuarial engine, built to work with AI
Software and AI engineering come first, with deep life and annuity expertise as the translation layer.
Modern
Written in the language your analysts, data scientists and AI tools already use.
Integrates
Every calculation is available through an API, with an MCP wrapper for AI assistants and agents.
Transparent
Your actuaries can read, review and validate the code behind every number.
Lean
Modular architecture, automated wherever possible, so it stays maintainable as it grows.
Who we are
Insurance veterans and technologists, on one team
Annum is an AI-native company combining senior life and annuity executive, actuarial and product experience with engineering and AI expertise. We partner with insurance companies on adopting AI across finance and actuarial.
15 senior roles across the industry, including five chief actuary, three CRO and CFO roles, most of them leading major transformation. Mergers, PGAAP and LDTI, model consolidation, and Bermuda transactions that freed up billions in capital.
Our engineering lead has more than thirty years as a software engineer and has served as CTO for several start-ups, building financial analysis, architecture design and logistics software. They own our platform architecture, infrastructure and integrations.
Our AI lead brings hands-on experience applying AI and data science to real business problems, and helps shape how AI is used across our products and client work.
